Facilities
The Pool with its enveloping warmth expands the blood vessels leading to pain reduction and an increase in muscle efficiency. The pool is heated to 28-30ºC: cleanliness is maintained by a sand filter and ozonator.
The water quality is tested several times daily using a photometer.
There is a non-slip ramp for access to the pool; anti-swim jets which are adjustable for direction and flow.
Buoyancy Aids are worn by all dogs using the pool.
The Hydrotherapy Spa is specially designed with three levels in order to accommodate dogs of all sizes.
The water is heated to 40ºC, and the gentle massaging effect of the Spa can be exceptionally beneficial if used before and after a session in the Pool. However, for senior dogs, or dogs not needing to swim, a course of Spa Treatments would be relaxing and would ease some of the aches and pains.
The Electric Hoist used as an alternative method of access to the Pool for dogs which are injured or perhaps rather cautious. The dog is gently placed in a mesh harness / sling and elevated gradually. The Hoist is used for all dogs using the Spa. The hoist is invaluable for injured dogs suffering from physical problems.
Showering and Drying - Before dogs use the Pool or Hydrotherapy Spa they are given a warm water shower. Towel drying after a session can be supplemented by the use of the dryers.
Weighing Scales - All dogs are weighed when they first attend CCHC. This is invaluable for monitoring any weight loss or gain, particularly with our Obesity Programme.
