Case Studies
Jovi
Jovi is a six year old Doberman bitch who suffered an unfortunate accident while playing in her garden. This accident resulted in Jovi breaking her neck. For approximately six weeks, Jovi was incapable of moving by herself. After superb care and dedication by Jovi's owners and Paragon Veterinary Hospital she gradually began to improve but her legs and movement were uncoordinated and there was severe muscle wastage.
Paragon recommended to Jovi's owners that she have a course at CCHC. Jovi began a twice weekly course and has steadily improved with muscle tone increasing, mobility greatly improving and coordination improving. Jovi has a spring returning to her step and can now bark for her after-swim biscuit. Her owners are delighted with her progress, and so are we.
Wizard
Wizard is a 22 month old Trail Hound who had a chronic sprained cruciate ligament. After assessment we devised a twice weekly pool session, the leg has improved greatly. Prior to the trail season starting, he has been out on test trails. At the mid point at a recent trail he was 60 - 70 yards behind the leaders, yet came through to win.
His muscles and stamina are now tremendous. He is now on a once weekly maintenance programme.
Zeta
Zeta is a young Newfoundland bitch who, because of the winter frosts and hard ground, was having her exercise restricted. Her owners felt that swimming was the answer - so she came twice weekly and happily, Zeta is again winning prizes at the shows. Zeta is yet another client benefiting from a weekly maintenance course.
Tamlin
Tamlin is a 14 year old Yellow Labrador who was overweight and suffers from arthritis. She has been experiencing difficulty when standing up and when trying to get into her car.
After just a few sessions in the Spa (where her joints are massaged under water) and the pool, her problems rising are almost gone and she can, once again, jump into the car unaided.
Flair
An experienced agility dog who was paying the penalty of the long, dark, cold nights and needed extra exercise to prepare for competitions and Crufts. This beautiful collie swims strongly and really enjoys her pool workout.
Marcus
Marcus is a twelve month Bernese boy. He is coming for fun, recreation and muscle toning. He has one problem - he does not like coming out of the pool as it is such fun. He heads back in at every opportunity.
Rafferty
Rafferty is a young Bernese who has grown extremely quickly and was experiencing discomfort. This discomfort was affecting his movement.
He has been swimming weekly and his owner is delighted with his improvement and the noticeable reduction in discomfort.
Previously Rafferty skirted round puddles but now tries, at every opportunity, to walk in them and even tries to take his owner into the local river.
